The World Exhibition EXPO-2025 will be held from May 2 to November 2, 2025. On May 22, 2017 the official submission of the letters from the Government of the Russian Federation to the International Exhibitions Bureau on nomination of the city of Yekaterinburg as the candidate for the right to host the World Exposition EXPO-2025. In order to promote the Russian application the organizational committee was established headed by Deputy Prime Minister Mr. A.V. Dvorkovich and ANPO Bid Committee EXPO-2025 under the leadership of Director General Mr. S.A. Sagaidak.
On January 15, 2017 ROSATOM signed an agreement on cooperation with the Bid Committee for arrangement of the World Exhibition EXPO-2025 in Yekaterinburg. “We consider the World Exhibition as a powerful driver for development of economic links and new opportunities for cooperation between Russian and foreign companies. It is Yekaterinburg as one of the largest industrial centers of Russia that is best suited for such a large-scale and significant event. We support the arrangement of EXPO-2025 in Yekaterinburg, it is not only in line with our corporate interests but also with the interests of the country as a whole,“ - emphasized in the official letter of ROSATOM to the address of the Bid Committee.

Joint work with the Bid Committee of EXPO-2025 is a very important mission. “We are very much hopeful that our application will win. The preparations to the EXPO and establishment in this territory of the city of the future may give an additional impetus to innovative development of Sverdlovsk region, where ROSATOM is also represented by several important enterprises including Beloyarsk nuclear power plant. This will also provide an opportunity to improve the lives of people in the region by locating thete the innovative centers of ROSATOM and the center of nuclear medicine in the city of the future,” - commented Mr. A. Merten.
On September 21, 2017 the Russian Federation became the first of the member-countries that officially handed over to the IEB the candidate's dossier (so-called "application book").
