The Russia-China deal to build the second stage of the Tianwan nuclear power plant has come into effect after the Rosatom Chief Sergei Kiriyenko and the Chairman of the China Atomic Energy Authority, Chen Qiufa, have signed a protocol of cooperation in Moscow on Thursday.

The Tianwan NPP is the largest facility of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation.

Its first stage includes two power units with VVER-1000 reactors. The stage was commissioned in 2007.
