Russia will start hot tests at unit 4 of the Rostov nuclear power plant at the end of this month, Rosenergoatom general director Andrey Petrov said during a working visit to the facility’s construction site. Once these tests have been completed, fuel loading and preparing the unit for start-up will follow. The Rostov plant, which is located nearly 14 km (8 miles) from the city of Volgodonsk, will consist of four VVER pressurised water reactors. Units 1 and 2 entered commercial operation in March 2001 and October 2010, respectively. Unit 3 was connected to the grid in December 2014, while the reactor pressure vessel was installed at unit 4 in December 2015.
