The components of a core catcher for unit 1 of the Kursk II nuclear power plant in Russia have been delivered to the construction site.

A core catcher is a device provided to catch the molten core material - corium - of a reactor in case of a meltdown and prevent it from escaping the containment building. 
The unit is of the VVER-TOI design.
