JSC National Nuclear Research Center (Azerbaijan) and Rusatom International Network signed a memorandum of understanding on personnel training for joint use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. 
In Sochi (Russia), on April 15, on the sidelines of the international forum ATOMEXPO-2019, JSC National Nuclear Research Center, Azerbaijan, and Rusatom International Network, Russia, signed a memorandum of understanding on personnel training for peaceful use of atomic energy. 
The document was signed by Adil Garibov Chairman of the National Nuclear Research Center JSC, from the Azerbaijan side, and Alexander Merten, a representative of Rosatom - President of Rusatom International Network, from the Russian side.
The memorandum lays the foundation for bilateral cooperation in the areas related to the use of the atom for peaceful purposes. In particular, the memorandum provides for the training of Azerbaijani specialists in the field of nuclear science at higher educational institutions of Russia and advanced training for administrative, scientific and technical personnel in various fields of the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. 
The parties also agreed on the organization of joint scientific work: conducting basic and applied research, initiating symposia, seminars, expert meetings, technical tours and consultations, as well as introducing joint projects.
Background:
Private institution of Atomic Energy Power Corporation “Rusatom International Network” is a company of ROSATOM. The company was founded in 2014 with the objective of promoting the products and services of the Russian nuclear industry on the global market.
Azerbaijan and Rosatom effectively cooperate in the field of personnel training. For the third year in a row, an opportunity has been opened for Azerbaijani entrants to study “atomic” disciplines at the best Russian universities. In 2017/2018, five candidates proposed by the Azerbaijan National Nuclear Research Center were enrolled at the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (NRNU MEPhI, Rosatom flagship university). This year, the National Nuclear Research Center recommended three more candidates for enrollment at MEPI.
Closed Joint Stock Company National Nuclear Research Center was established in Azerbaijan under the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies in 2014 by order of President Ilham Aliyev. The Center was established with the objective of using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes by creating a modern Center for Nuclear Science and Technology and introducing nuclear technologies into industrial, agricultural and other areas.
