On 3 May 2018,  soil stabilizations works under the reactor building of power unit No 2 commenced at Bushehr-2 NPP construction site. These works will ensure the performance of the most important stage of the project implementation - first concrete pouring planned for the third quarter of 2019.
Soil stabilization is one of the preparatory stages for commencement of the NPP construction required to reduce the settlement of buildings and structures of the NPP and ensuring their stability in case of possible seismic impact. After successful completion of works in May 2018 in a pilot area by Turbo Jet soil stabilization method and after obtaining positive results of laboratory tests, a permit was issued for commencement of industrial soil stabilization works in the main area of the reactor building of power unit No 2 of Bushehr NPP.
The commencement of the works in the pit of power unit No 2 is planned in 2018.  All the works are being performed in accordance with the project implementation schedule.
For the reference:
A successful experience of construction of the first power unit in Bushehr was the basis for expanding cooperation between the two countries in the field of nuclear power. In November 2014 Russia and Iran signed a number of documents expanding cooperation in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy and opening the possibility of construction in Iran of up to eight power units under Russian technologies. At that time the contract for construction of the second line of Bushehr NPP consisting of two units of Russian design, was also signed (units No 2 and No 3 of Bushehr-2 NPP). The total capacity of two VVER-1000 power units will be 2100 MW. General Contractor of Bushehr-2 project is JSC ASE (Atomstroyexport) - the company in the management scope of ROSATOM.  The project is financed by the Iranian side.
