On May 25 ROSATOM took part in the panel session “The Arctic potential. The Northern Sea Route as a driver of economic growth” which was held at the Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2018).

The session was attended by Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia D. F. Kobylkin, governors of the northern regions of Russia, Director General of ROSATOM A. E. Likhachev, Director General of FSUE Atomflot V. V. Ruksha, General Director PJSC Sovkomflot S. O. Frank, President of JSC USC A. L. Rakhmanov, Vice President and State Secretary of PJSC GMK Norilsk Nickel E. S. Bezdenezhnykh, Executive Directive of Stena AB Dan Sten Olson and others. The session moderator was Deputy Chief Editor of IA Regnum Igor Pavlovskiy.
A broad range of issues to be solved was discussed to provide for the development of the Arctic region and the Northern Sea Route as a large transport passage. The participants of the session touched upon different aspects (development of infrastructure, safety ensuring of navigation, reduction of environmental threats to the Arctic Region). Representatives of regions, ROSATOM, mining companies (such as Nornickel and HOVATEC), carriers(in particular, Sovkomflot) expressed the common opinion on the necessity to coordinate their activities. Each of the speakers was saying about his/her assumptions on the steps which are necessary to undertake shortly to further develop the law and infrastructure.
