The Volgodonsk Branch of JSC "AEM-technology" (part of the machine-building division of ROSATOM - Atomenergomash) started stamping pipe blanks - the Bends of the main circulation pump (MCP) for Units 5 and 6 of the Kudankulam NPP (India).
The work was carried out in two stages at the thermal press site of Atommash. At first, the specialists performed ovalization - the blanks by means of a press were given the necessary oval shape. At the second stage, the bending of items was performed. After a two-stage holding in a furnace at a temperature of 870 to 1080 degrees, the Bend was placed in a specialized stamp. Under the pressure of the press with a force of 6,000 ton-forces, the blank was bent at 29 degrees.

After stamping, the items are subjected to machining. In total, Atommash will manufacture eight bends of the MCP for two units of the plant.
The main circulation pump is a first class safety item. It circulates the coolant at a nuclear power plant through the pipes of the main circulation pipeline from the reactor to the steam generator and vice versa.
Kudankulam NPP is a nuclear power plant with VVER-1000 power units located in Tamil Nadu state in the south of India. The first power unit of the Kudankulam NPP on July 13, 2013 was brought to the minimum controlled level (MCU). In October 2013, it was connected to the power grid of India, and in June 2014, it was brought up to 100% capacity. On July 10, 2016, the second Unit was brought to the MCU. On August 29, 2016, the Unit was connected to the Indian power grid. In January 2017, it was brought up to 100% capacity. The general framework agreement with Rosatom on the construction of the third and fourth Units was signed in the spring of 2014. In June 2017, the Engineering Division of ROSATOM and the Indian Atomic Energy Corporation signed an agreement on the construction of the third stage (Power Units No.5 and No.6) of the Kudankulam NPP.
Joint Stock Company AEM-technology, founded in 2007 within the structure of JSC Atomenergomash, a machine building division of the state corporation ROSATOM, is currently one of the leading Russian companies in the field of power engineering, a member of the Union of Russian Machine Builders. The structure of the company includes an engineering center staffed with experienced designers and process-engineers, as well as two production sites: The Branch of JSC AEM-technology Petrozavodskmash in Petrozavodsk and the Branch of JSC AEM-technology Atommash in Volgodonsk.
