On September 26-27, 2018 Murmansk will host the 11th Regional Public Dialogue Forum “Cooperation for the Arctic Sustainable Development” which is carried out under the auspices of the Public Council of ROSATOM with participation of the V. I. Vernadsky Non-governmental Environmental Foundation, the Russian Green Cross and a number of other public environmental organizations.
The event is organized by ROSATOM and aimed at wide discussion with participation of federal and regional authorities, business and scientific communities, civil society and local communities. The discussion will be on prospects of the Northern Sea Route, challenges to be come across, and a mechanism which provides effective dialogue between the governing bodies, business communities and general public in implementation of the Arctic projects. Governors of a number of the Arctic regions of Russia, Deputy Director General and Director of Directorate of the Northern Sea Route of ROSATOM V.V. Ruksha, Head of Department for Regional Liaison of ROSATOM A.V. Polosin and others are expected to take part in the event.
The Forum’s Program provides for work in three subject areas: “Development of the Arctic Region: New Opportunities, New Technologies”, “Social and Humanitarian Support to the Arctic Development Projects and Provisions for Dialogue”, and “Environmental Aspect in Implementation of the Arctic Project”. It will include a plenary discussion, parliamentary hearings on “Support of Russia’s State Interests and Development of International Cooperation in the Arctic”, technical tour to FSUE Atomflot as well as featured panels on “Arctic Pro Atom”, “Ecological Security of the Arctic: The Priority in Implementation of the Arctic Projects” (jointly with WWE of Russia), “Effective Interaction and Secured Public Consent in Implementation of Projects with Participation of ROSATOM”.
In the framework of the event the participants will have an opportunity to familiarize with results of the work of regional experts under the project “Green Square of Carbon-free Energy”. During the year, the university chairs in the nuclear-hosted regions of Russia have studied the role of nuclear power in reduction of burden to the environment; the participants with the best projects will come to the Forum.

The dialogue forum is the format of communication that has become traditional long ago and is used by the ROSATOM’s Public Council for constructive exchange of views of specialists in nuclear power and representatives of the general public. Representatives of Russian and foreign public, local and regional authorities, sectoral and basic science, expert community, state powers who regulate nuclear and radiation safety, international organizations which carry out the cooperation in safety ensuring in the use of atomic energy (IAEA, OECD/NEA etc.), companies from Russia and foreign countries, nuclear trade unions and veteran organizations of different countries, and mass media are invited to participate in the forum. The dialogue forums have been held by ROSATOM since 2014. The forum has given a good account of oneself over these years.
