The Public Counseling Office at Rooppur NPP, being constructed in Bangladesh, is opened in Ishwardi, Pabna district.
The solemn ceremony took place on November 30, the day of the 3rd anniversary of the first concrete pouring on the construction site of the first NPP unit, being built in Bangladesh with the help of Russia (the General Contractor is JSC Atomstroyexport being a part of ROSATOM Engineering Division). This day was commemorated in the country as the Nuclear Energy Day.
The ceremony was attended by the representatives of JSC Atomstroyexport, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) and the local administration.
The Public Counseling Office will help eliminate information barriers and will become an important channel of communication between the local residents and the representatives of Rosatom and BAEC. With its aid, the residents of Pabna district will be able to get answers to their questions on nuclear energy use and state-of-the-art nuclear technologies, safety systems of the latest Gen III + power units, the progress of construction and specifics of Rooppur NPP operation, social initiatives and possibilities, including employment at the NPP.
The Counseling Office’s tasks also include popularization of science and engineering specialities, implementation of educational programs, conferences, lectures, workshops and other events.
In the pandemic conditions, the Public Counseling Office’s activities will be carried out mostly in the virtual format, using such online platforms as Facebook, YouTube, Zoom. Almost a year ago, a virtual Public Counseling Office in Bengali language was opened at the address www.bdnuclear.energy, which is widely popular.
Operational management of the Public Counseling Office in Ishwardi will be carried out by BAEC and autonomous non-profit organization Energy of the Future.
