September 29, 2021, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia - Rusatom Overseas JSC (a company of ROSATOM), KAMAZ PTC, Far East and Arctic Development Corporation JSC and Sakhalin Region Development Corporation JSC have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the development and application of hydrogen technologies in the transport sector on Sakhalin Island.
The parties will consider jointly participating in the hydrogen fleet development project. They will also discuss launching eco-friendly hydrogen fuel cell transport on the territory of the Sakhalin Region.
The memorandum was signed by Igor Nosov, Director General of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, Andrey Medvedev, Director General of the Sakhalin Region Development Corporation, Irek Gumerov, Deputy Director General – Director for Development of KAMAZ PTC, and Anton Moskvin, Vice President for Marketing and Business Development of Rusatom Overseas JSC.
"ROSATOM, together with top Russian and international players in the hydrogen technology market, is actively involved in the development of transport projects that use hydrogen fuel cells in the Far East and other regions of Russia. In particular, we consider hydrogen technology in the passenger and freight transport to be highly promising, potentially hugely contributing to achieving the Sakhalin Region’s decarbonization goals. Undoubtedly, the participation of such a major player as KAMAZ in the project will give fresh impetus to the development of hydrogen economy on the island, where the first significant projects of this kind can be implemented in the foreseen future," said Anton Moskvin, Vice President for Marketing and Business Development of Rusatom Overseas JSC.
