On February 10-14, 2020 in Vienna (Austria), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA, Agency) hosted the third International Conference of Nuclear Security (ICONS 2020).
The event gathered together more than 1,600 experts from 134 states. The Russian delegation included representatives of MFA of Russia, ROSATOM and its organizations, Rostechnadzor and FCS of Russia.

The ministerial segment of the conference centered around addresses of heads of delegations of the IAEA Member States with national statements on priorities and achievements in the field of nuclear security. The Russian address was presented by Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna M. I. Ulyanov.

The scientific and engineering part of the conference included more than 70 different events such as high-level discussions, technical sections etc. ROSATOM’s experts delivered 12 papers on topical issues of nuclear security.

The IAEA Secretariat organized an exhibition where the Agency’s Member States, certain governmental and non-governmental organizations had an opportunity to demonstrate their best practices and achievements in the field of nuclear security. ROSATOM’s sectoral exhibition booth displayed Russian approaches to development of the physical protection system of a nuclear facility as well as information about capabilities of ROSATOM’s Technical Academy in education and training of foreign specialists in nuclear security.  

Following the results of the conference, the ministerial declaration was adopted. It will become the basis for development of IAEA's Nuclear Security Plan for 2022 to 2025.
