September 7th, 2020. Anton Moskvin, Vice president for marketing and business development at Rusatom Overseas participated in the 29th international Nuclear Energy for New Europe 2020 (NENE) conference held under the honorary patronage of Borut Pahor, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, in a hybrid format of both in-person and remote participation.
In his online presentation within the “New Reactor Design and Small Modular Reactors” session Anton Moskvin emphasized the cutting-edge nuclear developments of Rosatom, including flagship evolutionary technologies VVER-1200 and VVER-TOI, which belong to the most advanced generation of large-scale reactors, as well as small floating and land-based small NPPs with RITM reactors. He also gave a perspective on the application of the research reactor-based Centers for Nuclear Science and technology (CNST) in a variety of fields, including medicine, agriculture, industry and others. The construction of such centers provides the customer countries with the tools necessary to accelerate the technological development and contribute to the achievement of the UN SDGs.
«The nuclear field is on the rise. New breakthrough solutions are being developed right before our eyes and begin to reshape the global energy industry. Lots of countries have already started the transition from coal and diesel-based energy systems to a new model that can stop the climate change. It is a mix of nuclear power generation with renewable energy sources. The introduction of small modular reactors further expanded the limits of nuclear technology application, as they allow to supply our planet’s remotest corners with electricity, where thousands of people dream of affordable and uninterrupted energy. Nuclear technologies are enhancing the quality of life around the world today, » Anton Moskvin added.
NENE annual conference brings together professionals from nuclear research organizations, educational institutions, industrial units and regulatory bodies to discuss current challenges in nuclear fission and fusion energy research. This year's event was held under the slogan “Uniting Science and Industry”. The conference was organized by the Nuclear Society of Slovenia and Reactor Physics Department of the Jožef Stefan Institute.
