November 21, 2022, Sochi – Russia and the Republic of Nicaragua have signed a roadmap for establishing a dialogue in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
The document was signed on the sidelines of the XII ATOMEXPO-2022 International Forum by Aleksei Likhachev, the Director General of ROSATOM, and Alba Azucena Torres, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Russian Federation.
The roadmap defines concrete steps by both sides in the following two years for the implementation of projects in the field of non-energy applications of nuclear energy in Nicaragua, as well as assessing the prospects for the implementation of projects in geothermal, hydro and wind power. The parties plan to organize technical tours and seminars, undertake steps in education and personnel training, as well as in formation of public opinion in the field of nuclear energy.
