The Memorandum has become the first document on the peaceful use of atomic energy signed with this regional association. It will assist us in building up contacts with the countries of Central America, which recently have shown interest in non-energy use of atomic energy. In particular, it deals with development of nuclear infrastructure, development of awareness programs about nuclear technologies and their applications for population, use of radioisotopes and radiation technologies in industry, agriculture and medicine.
For information:
The Central American Parliament is a consultative body and has a high profile in the region. Its members are Guatemala, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Panama and El Salvador.
